Due to its strategic location, its highly skilled workforce and its extensive free agreements network which provides duty-free access to 50 countries, including the EU, US, Canada, Japan, South Corea, among many others; top medical device companies have set up operations in Mexico.
According to data from the Mexican Association of Medical Device Manufacturers (AMISAN), there are approximately 550 medical device companies operating in Mexico. Total exports reached US$9.8 billion in 2020, A 4.6% increase over the previous year.

For example, all of the top 10 leading companies (in revenue) have operations in Mexico: Medtronic, Abbott, Johnson & Jhonson, BD, Siemens Healthineers, Fresenius Medical Care, Philips, GE Healthcare, Stryker and Cardinal Health
